Using Windows XP Forums To Save Cash

Tuesday, July 11th, 2006

My laptop has Windows XP installed and I love it. But recently, it crashed. So I did what most people do, I called Microsoft tech support. The tech charged me a $35 tech fee and wasted 45 minutes of my time. Turns out I could have fixed it myself if I had only known a couple of quick fixes to common problems.

So I started looking for alternative ways to get tech support. Ways to get common problems fixed or to simply ask questions about why something in Windows XP works the way it does. I found Windows XP Forum a resource to do just what I wanted.  You simply browse the ever growing list of topics from over 1134 registered members. You can search the archives by typing in a question, keyword or comment.

If you need to ask a question simply register for free, choose the forum that fits your need and post a question. I have found that generally I can get answers back within a minutes to a couple of hours. But for common problems, it’s better than calling and paying a tech fee.

Now if you are experiencing major problems, by all means call Microsoft. Afterall they did design the program. But for common problems visit the Windows XP Forums. You can get the answers you need and save some green.
