The Search for Signs of Inteligent Life in the Universe: This is a witty re-creation of Lily Tomlin’s 1985 one female Broadway show. Her characterizations run the gamut from box woman to juvinille delinquent to New Age Lady, with much of the material in a feminist vein. The show stars Lily Tomlin obviously. (120 minutes, 1991)

Blaze of Noon: A hokey tale of Holden torn between his spouse (Baxter) and his real love, flying. Cast includes Anne Baxter, William Holden, Sonny Tufts, William Bendix, and Sterling Hayden. (91 minutes, 1987)

No Man Is an Island: Spotty production values harm real tale of serviceman Hunter snared on Guam throughout the 3 years Japanese commanded region. Cast includes John Friars, Jr., Richard Goldstone. Jeffrey Hunter, Marshall Thompson, Barbara Perez, Ronald Remy, Paul Edwards, Jr., Rolf Bayer, and Vicente Uwanag. (114 minutes, 1962)

Play Time: Hulot (Tati) drifts through an unrecognizable modern Paris of steel and glass skyscrapers. Scene and noise gags abound in this superbly created film. These assorted effects are connected by Hulot’s attempt to keep a meeting. Cast includes Jacques Tali, Barbara Dennek, Jacqueline Lecomte, Valerie Camille, and Leon Doyen. (126 minutes, 1967)

Dingo: An unexpected appearance by jazz trumpeter Billy Cross (Davis) in a boy’s rural town empowers him to become a musician himself. Now grown up, he still fantasies of playing for a living and honoring his lifelong hero. This friendly but dull paced tale is kindled by Miles Davis’ dynamic presence and ingratiating behavior. Cast includes Colin Friels, Miles Davis, Helen Buday, Joe Petruzzi, Bernadette Lafont, and Bernard Fresson. (108 minutes, 1991)

Leadbelly: Poignant biography of the legendary folksinger Huddie Ledbetter, master of the twelve string guitar and long time convict on the Texas and Louisiana chain gangs. Cast includes Roger E. A Guy Namend Joe: Excellent cast flounders in lazy fantasy in reference to WW2 guide Tracy returning to the planet to give youthful serviceman Johnson a hand in his romance with Tracy’s lady friend Dunne. Cast includes Spencer Tracy, Irene Dunne, Van Johnson, Ward Bond, James Gleason, Lionel Barrymore, Barry Nelson, Esther Williams, and Don DeFore. (120 minutes, 1943)

Gypsy Girl: Gypsy Girl is a brooding account of backward Hayley Mills finding her first romance with McShane exciting yet unstable. Cast includes Hayley Mills, Ian McShane, Laurence Naismith, and Geoffrey Bayldon. (102 minutes, 1966)
